- Route and Interchanges: The expressway starts from Sardar Patel Ring Road near Sarkhej in Ahmedabad and stretches to Dholera Special Investment Region (SIR), passing key locations such as the upcoming Dholera International Airport at Navagam. It features eight major interchanges, including a butterfly circle at entry/exit 7.
- Construction and Investment: The project is divided into four civil packages, each being developed by different contractors. The total investment in this greenfield expressway is ₹4,373 crore.
- Package 1: Sardar Patel Ring Road to Sindhrej Village (22 km) – Contractor: Sadbhav Engineering (₹690.30 crore)
- Package 2: Sindhrej Village to Vejalka Village (26.52 km) – Contractor: Sadbhav Engineering (₹882 crore)
- Package 3: Vejalka Village to Start of DSIR Zone (22.54 km) – Contractor: GHV India (₹692 crore)
- Package 4: DSIR Zone to Adhelai Village (38.019 km) – Contractor: MKC Infrastructure (₹932.22 crore)
- Monorail Integration: The expressway will have a two-sided design to accommodate a monorail system, enhancing public transportation options in the region.
- Sustainability: Emphasizing environmental sustainability, the expressway includes roadside plantations and other eco-friendly initiatives to minimize its environmental impact.
Benefits and Future Prospects
The Ahmedabad-Dholera Expressway is expected to handle around 25,000 vehicles daily, significantly reducing congestion on existing routes. With a speed limit of up to 120 km/h, it will provide a high-speed travel option for commuters. The expressway is scheduled to open in early 2025, marking a significant milestone in Gujarat’s infrastructure development.
